At Testo Industrial Services, you can choose between the specialization of system integration or application development for your IT specialist training.

In doing so, you will develop into a problem solver for (almost) all challenges that can arise when working with computers. With a good portion of perseverance and initiative, you look for suitable solutions and always have the goal of cracking even the toughest nuts. Our trainees tell

Our trainees talk about their experiences during their training at Testo Industrial Services.

Marc - Apprenticeship as IT specialist for application development:

Hello, my name is Marc and I have been training as an IT specialist for application development since September 2020. Because I have been programming since I was 13 years old, I was able to quickly decide which training I would like to start. While searching for the right training company, I became aware of Testo Industrial Services GmbH through close friends. After the trial work in the application development team, I got the confirmation for the apprenticeship after a few days, which I was very happy about.

After the introductory week with the new trainees and students, I joined the Application Development team, where I spent most of my training. I particularly enjoy creating and planning a new software application. Troubleshooting and rewriting existing programs are also part of my job. Thanks to my training officer I am constantly learning a lot about new technologies or how to improve my (programming) code.

There are various interesting projects that you can get involved with during working hours, such as internal IT projects. There are also trainee projects in which you work together with other trainees and students from different departments. Vocational school is also a change from everyday life as a trainee. This takes place every two weeks in block instruction. The vocational school is the Walter-Rathenau-Gewerbeschule in Freiburg and is located right next to the main train station. In class, you learn the basics of programming in Java and also the basics of network technology.

Tim - training as an IT specialist in the field of system integration:

Hey, I'm Tim and I started my training as an IT specialist for system integration in September 2021 at Testo Industrial Services GmbH.
I got into this profession through computer science classes at school.
After an internship as an IT specialist for system integration, I was sure that this profession was the right one for me.
When looking for a company to train with, I became aware of the company through friends and relatives who also work at TIS. After I applied, I received an invitation to the interview, which took place online due to the Corona situation. Afterwards, I was allowed to come to the company for a trial work day and a few days later I already received the acceptance for the apprenticeship.

I am currently in the IT department in the "Second Level Infrastructure" team. I expect to complete the second half of my training in the "IT Services" team. What I particularly like about the job is managing servers and working and automating with Powershell. Central software deployments and testing new software solutions are also part of the job. In the IT hotline, where I am a temporary substitute, the ability to solve problems is tested every day and I am always faced with new challenges. Thanks to the help of my training officer and my teammates, I am constantly learning a lot of new things.

In addition to the daily work, there are interesting projects such as setting up a touch screen for monitoring the high-bay warehouse in the new Calibration Factory and displaying information during guided tours. Furthermore, there are trainee projects together with the application developers, e.g. with microcontrollers. The availability of a 3D printer offers many creative possibilities. A new server infrastructure is also currently being set up for trainees, which can be used for testing and trying out.
The maintenance and expansion of the IT infrastructure at locations, in my case in Forbach (France), was also very interesting and varied.
Likewise, participating in maintenance weekends allows me to do new interesting tasks.

The vocational school takes place as a two-week block course, so I alternate between two weeks at school and four weeks at the company. The vocational school is the Walter-Rathenau-Gewerbeschule in Freiburg and is very easy to get to thanks to its proximity to the train station. In the vocational school classes, you learn the basics of network technology, computer systems (operating systems), business administration and much more.
