Calibration of acoustic measuring devices

In our acoustic laboratory, we calibrate your acoustic measuring devices in the pressure or free-field chamber.

We carry out ISO/factory and DAkkS-accredited calibrations for your pistonphones, sound level calibrators, measuring microphones and sound level meters in our state-of-the-art acoustic laboratory. With our expertise, we are also able to respond to customer-specific solutions for multi-channel sound level meters or artificial heads, for example.

The acoustic laboratory is equipped with the latest calibration technology: We have a free-field and pressure chambers available for calibration. Which reference is the right one depends on the type of microphone or sensor and the conditions under which the calibration is to take place.

Calibration in the free-field chamber

Calibration in the free-field chamber is the optimum choice for calibrating free-field microphones that are used outdoors or in large rooms, for example. The direct sound field component without reflection is often relevant here.

With our free-field chamber, we are able to realize frequencies between 125 Hz and 20 kHz in order to enable realistic conditions for your practical applications and to test the determination of the free-field sensitivity.

Measuring microphones

We carry out ISO factory and DAkkS-accredited calibrations for your measuring microphones in accordance with IEC 61094 in the pressure or free-field chamber. This involves determining the transmission coefficient at the reference point and checking the linearity of the frequency response.

Calibration in our free-field chamber is suitable for your free-field microphones and is possible in a measuring range of 125 Hz to 20 kHz at 84 dB in accordance with DIN EN 61094-8. The calibration in the pressure chamber is specially designed for the calibration of pressure microphones in a measuring range of 31.5 Hz - 16 Hz at 94 in accordance with DIN EN 61094-5.  The evaluations are based on DIN EN 61094-4.

In the field of measuring microphones we are specialized in the following measuring devices:

  • Brüel&Kjaer - 4192,4193
  • PCB Piezotronics - 378C13,378B11
  • G.R.A.S. - 46A0, 46AD, 46AG etc.
  • Brüel&Kjaer - 4188, 4189, 4190, 4191
  • PCB Piezotronics - 130A24, 378A04
  • MTG - MM 210, MM 215, MM 220
  • G.R.A.S. - 146AE, 40AF, 46AM
  • OnoSokki - MI-1281, MI-1271

Sound level meters and measuring chains / Sound level meters

We calibrate your sound level meters in accordance with IEC 61672 and offer ISO/factory and DAkkS-accredited calibrations. A frequency evaluation is carried out at specific frequencies.

The calibration of your sound level meters in the free-field chamber is carried out in accordance with DIN EN 61672-3 and is possible in a measuring range of 125 Hz - 20 kHz at 84 dB. The evaluations are carried out according to DIN EN 61672-1 and the frequency evaluation according to Z, A, C. The calibration of your sound level meters and measuring chains is possible in the pressure chamber at 94 dB and 114 dB at 1 kHz.

We offer you even more: you now have the option of individually selecting your measurement points for ISO/factory calibration in the pressure chamber. Any combination of dB and frequency point is possible: 94, 104, 114 dB and 31.5; 63; 125; 250; 500; 1000; 2000; 4000; 8000; 12500; 16000 Hz. Benefit from application-related calibrations at the measuring points you use in practice. In this way, we offer you even more reliability in terms of quality and respond to your individual requirements.

In the field of sound level meters, we specialize in the following Class 1 or Class 2 measuring instruments:

  • Testo - 815, 816
  • Brüel&Kjaer 2245, 2250, 2270
  • Aecom - 01dB DUO, Fusion 4G, Fusion SLM
  • NTI Audio- XL2

Calibrator/Pistonphone

Acoustic calibration of class 1 and class 2 calibrators and pistonphones can be performed in the calibration laboratory of Testo Industrial Services. Using the substitution method, calibration is carried out at fixed points of 250 Hz and/or 1000 Hz / with a measuring span of 70 dB and 130 dB and is specially designed to meet the requirements of DIN EN IEC 60942. 1-3 fixed values can be selected.

We are specialized in the following acoustic calibrators:

Acoustic calibrators and pistonphones from any manufacturer:

  • Testo 0554 0452
  • Brüel&Kjaer – 4228, 4231
  • Larson Davis - CAL200, CAL250, CAL150
  • G.R.A.S. – 42AA, 42AG, 42AP
  • Castle – dBCal, GA607, GA601

Acoustic dosimeters

In our acoustic laboratory, we calibrate dosimeters in accordance with IEC 61252 or ANSI S1.25. The measurement method used involves calculating the exposure taking into account an excited frequency, the sound pressure level and the time in the coupler. Our expertise lies in the calibration of sound level meters and noise dosimeters.
