Does every camera need to be calibrated?
No, only cameras that are used for precise measurements or quality control.

Is camera calibration required by regulation?
The calibration and verification of the suitability of camera systems is required by standards such as IATF 16949. In addition, VDA Volume 5.3 provides the necessary assistance for verifying the suitability of camera systems.

What requirements must be met? 
The camera must be equipped with image analysis software that allows distance measurements (point to point; line to line). Limit values for the accuracy of the camera should also be defined (by the manufacturer or customer). It should be possible to place the reference standard in front of the camera without any problems.
