Training physics laboratory assistant (m/f/d)

Do you want to understand physical relationships in your everyday life and carry out experiments independently? As a future physics lab technician, you can learn something new every day in our modern calibration labs and quench your thirst for knowledge.

The education that fits your life

You wonder why a car brakes longer when it's icy or why your glasses fog up in winter? The interaction of physical quantities such as force, acceleration or heat has a direct influence on our lives. Are you bursting with curiosity? During your training as a physics laboratory assistant at Testo Industrial Services, you will get answers to all these questions and gain a deep insight into physical relationships.

As a prospective physics lab technician, you will be directly involved in all of our state-of-the-art calibration laboratories and will be allowed to calibrate our customers' measuring instruments and test equipment independently during the course of your training. Whether it's a thermal imaging camera, a torque wrench or an acceleration sensor - analyzing and documenting the measured values of different test equipment will constantly challenge your knowledge.

Do you have a spirit of discovery and like to try things out? In two-week vocational school blocks you will learn to prepare, conduct, analyze and evaluate physical experiments. In our large training workshop, you can directly apply your learned knowledge and set up your own series of physical experiments there. Technical projects such as the maintenance of measuring equipment round off your tasks during the apprenticeship.

Our trainees tell

Our trainee Emilia talks about her experiences during her training as a physics lab technician at Testo Industrial Services.

Hey, I'm Emilia and I've been a trainee physics lab technician at Testo Industrial Services in Mörfelden-Walldorf since 2020. At the time, I applied for the training at very short notice. Everything happened very quickly, but in the end it went like clockwork. First, I was invited for an interview, then for a trial period, after which I was immediately accepted for my training at Testo. Today, I am very happy that I am now part of the company.

At that time, I bridged the time until the official start of training as a jobber in the laboratories, in order processing and partly in logistics. That helped me a lot. I was able to get to know the people and also get my first insights into my future work. One highlight was that I was even allowed to carry out some calibrations in the lab, which gave me an insight into the day-to-day work of a physics lab technician.

I felt very comfortable right from the start, as everyone at Testo Industrial Services is there to lend me a sympathetic ear and offer me advice and support. Right from the beginning, I was trusted to be able to carry out tasks independently. But even if I have questions, don't feel confident enough or still lack the relevant know-how, I can rely on my trainers and all my other colleagues.

Here you can apply what you have learned from theory directly in practice and try out technical experiments yourself. As a budding physics lab technician, I calibrate digital multimeters and current clamps in the electrical lab, for example, or humidity/immersion sensors and infrared cameras in the thermodynamics lab. In addition, I was already allowed to take responsibility for a humidity generator, which taught me to work independently. In addition to the interesting day-to-day work, the many exciting trainee projects offer additional variety. For example, I was involved in the second edition of our employee newspaper.

It wasn't just the work, but also the family atmosphere here at Testo Industrial Services that convinced me to do my training here during the application process. I feel very comfortable and am excited about what awaits me in the next year of my training. I am already looking forward to being part of the Testo team as a fully qualified physics laboratory technician.
